They need any and all help.

North Korea is investigating the sister of former "View" co-host Lisa Ling and another journalist for spying, a report claims today.
Laura Ling and Euna Lee, who both work for Current TV, crossed the border from China while reporting on refugees, according to South Korea's JoongAng Ilbo newspaper.
North Korea "will not treat the female journalists harshly, although
THEY WILL UNDERGO INTENSE INTERROGATION,"
This is more than a delicate situation.
I can tell you FACTS in the public news:
1. The two women were on the correct side of a boundry river. 2 guards came across and took them. This was on March 17th.
The camera man, Mitch Koss was held by China and released this past Monday.
2. As you know, North Korea is a renegade nation. Inter-National laws are of no interest to them.
3. North Korea claims the women were spying on North Korea. Not true or even close to being true.
They have been moved to the NK, capitol Pyongyang.
4. They are being subjected to intense interrogation. This could be worse than water boarding. North Korea has it's on code of conduct, with detainees.
5. They could face anywhere from 5 to 20 years each.
6. Both women work for Current TV, based in San Francisco.

before i get out of the country i've had the opportunity to work more with the band Eras. Eras is a hardcore band from Sacramento, CA who I photographed in the studio for Chromatic late last year. this time around i photographed them for their upcoming self-titled EP. pulling influence from bands like American Nightmare, Black Flag and The Suicide File, Eras puts a melodic spin on hardcore. you can hear their latest tracks on their myspace. they wanted everything in black and white, high contrast.
i'm going to be blunt, i really dreaded this shoot. with a mixture of stress and pressure from the prep for my trip; i thought working with a band would be the last thing on my to do, let alone in a style that isn't my favorite.
i was wrong.
this shoot turned out to be 100 times better than i thought. i had fun, i got to use some creative lights (flower lamp = ) and the guys took it seriously. thanks Eras.

So I switched back... Saturday, February 28, 2009
to film that is. i've been blessed with the ownership of a Mamiya 645 1000s medium format (MF) film camera. it looks like this.

it's been a pretty cool experience so far. i was first exposed to MF in high school by photo teacher. he let me borrow a Holga; which is a funky little [originally] Russian plastic camera that used 120 and 220 sized film. i liked it and produced some interesting results but never really bit at it.
i thought i'd challenge myself and try something new as a personal project. so here is my first roll with this camera; these are my favorites.
probably my favorite so far. jenn's bike is quite the Hello Kitty tribute.
during one of SFGs weekly rides in January we setup all our bikes and took some group photos. here it is without the people. haha
this proved to be an interesting mistake. side note: this guy taught me to overcome my fear of barspins
strange angle. strange result. remar's feeling it.
